Person-Centered Thinking
Individual’s will have community based activity options based on their individual interests and ISP goals, which includes supporting their independence, honoring choices, promoting positive well-being and improving their quality of life. We will empower our individuals that need extra support through behavior management and modification.
Curriculum follows a person-centered instruction model designed to provide for the outcomes listed above as stipulated in the regulations for community based programs: namely, communication, independent choice making, integration, vocational skills and socialization. It is to be noted that, by design, the curriculum is enriched with components providing for social recreation and independent living skills with emphasis on training in natural environments. All of these curriculum components are equally available to, and appropriate for, the younger individuals, those who are physically and/or medically more fragile, and the older individuals. It is to be noted that, by design, the curriculum is enriched with components providing for social recreation and independent living skills with emphasis on training in natural environments with minimal staff support to encourage self-development. Due to the distinct nature of each individual served, all curriculum components are tailored to independently fit each person.
