Purchasing and money management skills
Under this domain, individuals receive instruction in a natural community environment. Activities and locations are identified on the daily activity schedule that is put together by the individuals.
Training includes:
Purchasing and money management skills
Learning how to protect one’s feelings and bodies
Skills necessary to use the city bus system and BART
Use of libraries, banks, post offices, and other community resources
Assist with scheduling medical and dental appointments
The main area of focus is empowering our individuals by helping them to make independent choices and decisions. Emphasis is placed on goal setting and attainment, self awareness, self esteem, self efficacy, choice making and broadening the scope of their capabilities.
Individuals will be assisted with making choices that meet their program goals. Activities include, but are not limited to: sensory stimulation, current events, community outings, exercise, computer technology, self-care, hygiene, volunteer and paid work as available and appropriate.
